Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry for Bayern Munich striker Eric Choupo-Moting as Erik ten Hag eyes a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is no secret that United need to sign another central striker, as Ten Hag looks to continue his rebuild at the club. Regardless of his off-field antics, Ronaldo turns 38 in February and the club need to find a long-term solution.

Anthony Martial had been thought to lead the line for the Reds this season, after a fine pre-season, but his bad luck with injuries has continued to haunt him. The Frenchman is yet to complete a full 90 minutes for the club across all competitions this season, as Ten Hag looks to find a more reliable option to spearhead their attack.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (via the Sun), United have made an enquiry for Choupo-Moting after the Bayern forward’s superb form this season. The 33-year-old has scored five goals and provided two assists in his last four Bundesliga appearances, as he appears to have caught the attention of United.

It is thought that the former Stoke City man could be available in January, yet the striker’s personal preference is to remain in Germany.

Elsewhere, Football Transfers report that Everton are in talks with Luke Shaw over a potential move away from United.

The 27-year-old is believed to be hoping to secure a five-year deal with the Reds, but Toffees manager Frank Lampard is a big admirer of the left-back and is hoping to tempt him with an offer to join him at Goodison Park. It is claimed that United are hesitant to negotiate with Shaw over a new contract due to concerns surrounding his injury record.

Shaw has had a recent resurgence of form that has seen him usurp Tyrell Malacia as Ten Hag’s starting left-back, something that the England international could well use as leverage to get a favourable deal when the time comes to negotiate with any and all interested parties.
