Benjamin Pavard

Barcelona are reportedly considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.

According to Sport, Pavard is the first-choice option for Barcelona boss Xavi as the LaLiga side look to bring in a new regular right-back.

Pavard’s contract at Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2024 and he is prepared to leave next year for a fresh challenge.

Sergi Roberto has been Barcelona’s main right-back so far this season but his contract expires at the end of the season.

Hector Bellerin, meanwhile, has made just four appearances since returning to the club.

26-year-old Pavard possesses a lot of experience and is also capable of playing at the highest level for several years to come.

Since joining Bayern in 2019 he has won the Champions League, three Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal.

Pavard has also been capped by France on 46 occasions and has a reputation for being a dependable performer.

Losing Pavard would be a source of frustration for Bayern, but Barcelona are determined to take advantage of the situation.

If a move for Pavard doesn’t materialise, then Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot could be an alternative option.
