Memphis Depay

BARCELONA have stripped Memphis Depay of his number nine shirt with new signing Robert Lewandowski taking over the number, according to reports.

Depay, 28, is available for transfer this summer but so far a suitor has not been found.

Barca have set an asking price of just £17million for the Dutchman, who only joined last year.

And in a move to underline Depay’s exile, Barca have taken his number nine shirt away, report Sport.

The Manchester United flop has struggled to make an impact at the Nou Camp, scoring just 13 goals in 38 appearances.

And Lewandowski’s arrival means Depay’s time at Barca could be up with manager Xavi telling him to look for a new club as his game time will be drastically reduced in Catalonia.

Fortunately for the striker there is no shortage of interest with Juventus reportedly becoming the latest club to join the transfer race.

Tottenham are believed to have made a £14m bid for Depay and are unwilling to go any higher.

Newcastle have also been linked to Depay and are willing to match his asking price – but the forward is not keen on a return to the Premier League.

However, that may change with Barca pushing him out of the club.

The Spanish giants are looking to offload several players this summer including United target Frenkie de Jong.

The midfielder is happy at Barca and does not want to leave but the club have reportedly offered him an ultimatum – leave or accept a pay cut.
