Karim Benzema

Following a career-best season with Real Madrid, Karim Benzema has claimed that he can’t do much more to win the Ballon d’Or in 2022.

This season, the attacker played a key role in Real’s domestic and continental triumph, scoring an incredible 44 goals in all competitions as his side won both the Champions League and La Liga.

He is the favorite for the 2022 Ballon d’Or award thanks to his efforts in the Champions League, where he scored 15 goals in 12 matches, including game-winning goals against Chelsea, PSG, and Man City in the knockout rounds.

When asked by Canal+ about whether he has the Ballon d’Or on his mind, Benzema stated: “Of course.

“No I will join up with the national team but I don’t think I can do much more with my club. We’ll see what happens, but in any case, I am proud of what I have done.”

On Real’s winning season:

“There is no luck. You can be lucky once but not every time. We deserve our victory. We put in the effort, we came back every time, and we never gave up. Every player is important in our squad, whether they are a starter or a substitute, or they don’t play often but give everything in training.”
