Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hit out at midfielder Gavi’s agent following the player’s delay in signing a new deal with the club.
The 17-year-old La Masia graduate is highly rated by the club after breaking into Spain’s national team but speaking to L’Esportiu via Fabrizio Romano, Laporta feels that the player is being misled by his representative.
Gavi has already attracted a lot of admirers from several top clubs from across Europe, including Liverpool, heading into the summer window and Barcelona wants to tie him to a longer deal to wade off interest from such clubs.
Laporta: “Gavi is only 17, but he has a present and future at Barça. I don’t understand why his agent is delaying the deal. Our salary proposal is more than acceptable. We’ll not improve the offer, as I don’t want Barcelona to continue in the same path as the people before us.” pic.twitter.com/GMuZJSK94c

Gavi’s current contract with Barcelona stands to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season, while it also includes a release clause of just €50 million, which interested parties can trigger to swoop him away from Camp Nou.
