AC Milan

AC Milan were not at their clinical best during yesterday’s win against Fiorentina at San Siro but Rafael Leao’s late goal secured a vital three points.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have published their player ratings for the game, starting by giving the team a score of 7 out of 10 because they never gave up in a packed stadium that was growing in anxiety.

Mike Maignan got a 7 for a fantastic save to deny Cabral but also one on Saponara that went under the radar. Davide Calabria got a 6 as he struggled a bit to deal with Saponara but never made a crucial error, while Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori each got the same score. Theo Hernandez got a 7 to complete the defence, after keeping Nico Gonzalez quiet.

Sandro Tonali received a 7 for his reading of the opposing attacks and essentially dictating the rhythm of attacks. Franck Kessie got a 6.5 and should have got an assist when he put Olivier Giroud through on goal after a quarter of the game.

Junior Messias (5.5) struggled and his main contribution was being offside for Theo Hernandez’s goal that was ruled out and could have made the day easier. Brahim Diaz got the same as he starting with the right attitude and ideas, then lost the ball a couple of times and faded.

Rafael Leao was the man of the match and got a 7.5 for pouncing on Terracciano’s poor clearance to score the winner and move to 10 league goals for the season. Olivier Giroud got a 5.5 for missing a big chance and drifting out of the game.

Rade Krunic got a 6 off the bench while Ante Rebic got a 6.5 for his energy. A 6 went to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and finally Stefano Pioli got a 7 for his game management and his subs.
