Antonio Rudiger

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti remained tight-lipped over the Los Blancos’ push to sign Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea in the summer.

Speaking after Madrid’s 4-3 loss to Manchester City n the first leg of the Champions League semis, Ancelotti remained coy over the possibility of Rudiger’s move to Santiago Bernabeu.

“Who is this?”, Ancelotti responded with a smile when asked about Rudiger’s potential move to Madrid this summer.

“He’s a Chelsea player, he’s still a Chelsea player. I can say nothing about this,” he continued.

The Los Blancos are on the verge of signing Rudiger in the summer once his contract expires with the Blues.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel revealed on Sunday the club has tried all they could to keep the defender but he is likely to leave at the end of the current campaign.

“We fought hard,” said Tuchel.

“I fought hard on a personal level. We made big offers to him, and the club tried everything.”

“But for some weeks we cannot fight anymore because we have the sanctions. We cannot adjust. We cannot continue, and so it is what it is.

“He deserves my full support because he delivered incredible performances right until today.”

“I’m just happy that I had the chance to coach him and to have him in the team. Because he was nothing but brilliant.”
