Kenya Premier League defending champions Tusker FC have confirmed the departure of club captain Eugene Asike, who is set to join Swedish side IF Karlstad Fotboll.

A statement from the club on Monday confirmed the two-time Premier League winner will soon be leaving the country.

“We thank Eugene for his services to the club. He has been a loyal servant and a dedicated players since when he first moved here and we are happy for his progress. He has diligently led this squad as captain over the last three seasons and we truly appreciate his dedication,” said club chairman Dan Aduda.

He added; “We wish him all the best in his new journey and hope that he will continue his success there.”

Asike has had two different stints with Tusker FC over the last six years and has two Premier League titles to show for it, as well as one FKF Cup title.

He was also named defender of the year last season as he led the Brewers to another Premier League crown.

Asike last featured for Tusker in an FKF Premier League clash against Vihiga Bullets in Nairobi, where he, unfortunately, picked an injury that required minor surgery.
