Bruno Guimarães scored a last-minute winner as Newcastle United came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Leicester took a 20th-minute lead through Ademola Lookman, who tucked home an Ayoze Perez ball from the edge of the box.
The goal robbed the Magpies of their positive start to the game, with the momentum shifting to the visitors.
Newcastle however steadied their ship once again, and they unsurprisingly leveled 10 minutes from time when Guimaraes took advantage of a defensive mishap to knock the ball between Kasper Schmeichel’s legs into the net to stir the home crowd.
Buoyed by how they finished the first half, Newcastle came back for the second period much stronger and managed to cause problems for the visitors.
Despite the bright play, it seemed like the points could be shared at a packed St. James Park until Guimaraes headed home the winner deep in added time.
The win, their second in a row inched them closer to safety while denting Leciester’s slim hopes of playing European football next season.
