Modric

Carlo Ancelotti has declared that Luka Modric will “end his career” at Real Madrid.

The Croatian has been in fine form for Los Blancos this season, appearing in 37 matches across all competitions and producing three goals and nine assists.

Modric’s current contract at the Bernabeu is set to expire at the end of June, and the two parties have yet to agree on a renewal.

According to a recent source, the seasoned midfielder has had two bids to depart the Bernabeu on a free transfer this summer.

Ancelotti, on the other hand, has stated that the 36-year-old ‘will have no difficulty’ signing a new contract, with the veteran ready to “end his career” in the Spanish capital.

Modric¬†will finish his career here at Real Madrid, this is the idea of the club and Luka. He won’t have problems to renew,” Ancelotti told reporters.

“I coached a football legend, [Paolo] Maldini, who won the Champions League at the age of 40. I have to compare Luka Modric with a player, it would be with him: for the quality, for the seriousness, for how he understands football… they are legends.”

Modric has 31 goals and 70 assists in 428 Real Madrid games since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2012.
