Villarreal eliminated Bayern Munich from the Champions League after registering a 2-1 victory on aggregate.
Bayern headed into the second leg clash trailing by a goal and levelled the tie through Robert Lewandowski. The Bavarians were chasing for a goal to win the tie but Emmanuel Chukwueze grabbed the leveler, a strike that was enough to eliminate the German machines.
Speaking after the clash in Munich, Unai Emery insisted his side fears no one left in the Champions League after eliminating Bayern.
“To achieve something, you have to do important things and beat the favourites. That [round of 16] game against Juventus gave us a lot of confidence. In the semi-finals, we will try to create circumstances so that we have our chances. Liverpool are a great team and Benfica, too. It will be a great semi-final to enjoy,” said the Spaniard.
“The feeling is unbeatable. We are achieving important things. It was a huge game but the first leg already said a lot about how we were going to respond today. We were perfect in defence.”
“When we scored the goal, it came at a very critical moment – because when Bayern score a goal, they have shown in other games that they can then score two or three.”
Villarreal will now focus on their weekend’s LaLiga clash against Getafe.
