Manchester United are intensifying their interest in Benfica wantaway striker Darwin Nunez.

Nunez has been a vibrant light in Benfica’s season where they are in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a chunk of teams in Europe said to be interested in his services.

Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira is reporting United is already in discussions with his agent Jorge Mendes, who recently took up the Benfica striker as a client.

“Manchester United are in pole to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the transfers window. Talks are ongoing with his new agent Jorge Mendes for a 5-year contract. MUFC are preparing the first official bid to Benfica,” Schira said.

The 22-year-old has bagged an incredible 31 goals in 36 games this season with West Ham having made an offer for him in the January transfer window but failed to reach an agreement.
