Unai Emery is positive Villarreal can eliminate Bayern Munich when the two teams face each other in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Villarreal head into the return leg with a 1-0 victory they registered back in Spain last week. Arnaut Danjuma scored the only goal in the first half before Francis Coquelin’s strike was canceled. However, the LaLiga side held on to register a slim 1-0 win.
Emery is determined his side has what it takes to eliminate Munich.
“We’re aware that it will be tough, but I’m convinced that we can compete and find results against the tough demands of an opposition who are the favorites, despite the first-leg result. They’re one of the favourites to win the Champions League,” he said.
“We’re preparing for the game. We know that it will be difficult, we want to execute our game well and have chances. This team has grown a lot. We need to adapt to the demands of the opposition, show personality, and be ourselves.”
“We want to be focused throughout the match. We have to play with the resources we have. We’re not satisfied with reaching where we have, but we want more and to go through. We know it is tough, but we want to find our moments in a demanding situation.”
Bayern will host Villarreal tonight at Allianz Arena.
