Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel does not see his side knocking out Real Madrid to make the Champions League semifinals.

The London club suffered a damaging 3-1 loss at home against the Spanish giants last week, potentially ending their European campaign this season.

Speaking on Monday during his pre-match conference, Tuchel gave little optimism about his side’s chances but promised they will give everything.

“Of course, we don’t have the biggest chance given the result from the first leg,” said Tuchel.

“Given the competition, the opponent, and the stadium it will be very difficult but we never manage our input by the chances we have for our result.

“It is unlikely [turning around the tie] but it is worth trying and trying means that we will play to our fullest and to our full limit. This is what it is, it is a big night for us,”

The Blues will hope to turn things around at an expected fully-packed Bernabeu without four of their players, who were ruled out.

Among them is Romelu Lukaku, who picked an Achilles injury over the weekend during the Blues’ 6-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League.
