Chelsea responded in emphatic fashion to two recent consecutive home losses with a commanding 6-0 win away at Southampton on Saturday evening.
Thomas Tuchel’s side lost 4-1 at home against Brentford last weekend in the Premier League, before Karim Benzema’s sensational hat-trick put them to the sword against Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
They were a different animal though on Saturday at the St. Mary’s as Marcos Alonso’s eight-minute goal set them on the path to a big win.
Mason Mount and Timo Werner helped themselves to a brace each, with Kai Havertz also adding his name to the scorers’ list.
This is not the first time the Blues have hit an opponent for six away from home, having done so in four different seasons before.
Here’s a look at the previous occasions when the London club scored t six times away from home in the Premier League.
- Barnsley – August 1997
- Tottenham Hotspur – December 1997
- Wigan Athletic – August 2010
- Everton – August 2014
