Manchester United will be handed a major boost when they face Everton in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off with Cristiano Ronaldo expected back.
The Portuguese star missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home against Leicester City due to an apparent illness but has trained with the rest of the squad this week.
It’s a must-win match for United, who are chasing a top-four finish which will guarantee them Champions League football next season.
Everton, on the other hand, are staring relegation in the eye, with their recent defeat, a 3-2 loss at Burnley making their situation even worse.
Jesse Lingard, who just like Ronaldo, was ill last weekend, has trained with the team this week and is expected to be ready for the clash.
Luke Shaw could be a doubt though after coming off at half-time against the Foxes with a leg problem, even though United have enough cover in that area with Alex Telles available.
Frank Lampard will not be able to call on Donny van de Beek as he is ineligible to feature against his parent club and is also currently sidelined with an injury.
Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes are still sidelined, same as Nathan Patterson, Tom Davies, and Andros Townsend.
Speaking ahead of the match, Lampard hinted at playing the same team that lost at Turf Moor.
