Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says it is unclear if midfielder Thomas Partey will play again this season.
Partey picked up a muscle injury during Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Everton on Monday night. Arteta revealed that night that Partey was to undergo a scan the following day to assess the extent of the injury.
Speaking on Friday ahead of the weekend’s clash against Brighton, Arteta has revealed the Ghanian latest injury is in the same area as the previous one. The midfielder is now likely to miss the remainder of the season and it will be a huge blow for the north London side who has already lost left-back Kieran Tierney to a knee injury.
“He has a significant injury, he will be out for some weeks. It’s an area he had a previous injury and he felt it straight away.”
Sambi Lokonga is likely to be handed a start in the absence of Partey having impressed on Monday night.
“He played quite a lot in the first part of the season but when you have no European football it’s more difficult to share the minutes. Great opportunity to show what they can do.”
The Gunners are currently fifth on the log with 54 points.
