The UEFA Champions League enters the quarter-final stage with mouth-watering clashes on the menu. 

Among them is a match at Etihad Stadium as Manchester City host Atletico Madrid in the first leg on Tuesday night.

This will be the second time Atleti are traveling to Manchester, having knocked out neighbors Man United in the round of 16.

Here are some of the stats and facts; 

  • This will be the first clash between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in European competition, but it will be the fourth between the respective coaches of the two clubs, with two victories for Pep Guardiola and one for Diego Pablo Simeone.
  • Atletico won 0-1 against Manchester United in March, eliminating the “Red Devils” this season in the Champions League.
  • If they were to win this match, they would become the first team to beat an English team in two consecutive away games in European competition.
  • Manchester City have won three of their four meetings with Spanish teams in the Champions League under Pep Guardiola (1D), including the last three games in the form of wins.
  • Diego Pablo Simeone’s Atletico Madrid eliminated Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich in the 2015/16 Champions League semifinals (2-2 on aggregate).
  • Manchester City have lost just one of their last nine Champions League matches outside the group stage (7V 1E).
  • Griezmann is Atletico Madrid’s top scorer in the Champions League with 25 goals in 55 games.
  • The Frenchman has been involved in six goals in his last six games in the competition (four goals and two assists).
  • Jan Oblak has kept 30 clean sheets in 67 Champions League games, more than any goalkeeper since he signed for Atletico in the 2014/15 campaign.
  • Correa has scored 12 goals this season between all competitions, being his best record in the same campaign with the Spanish side.
  • Griezmann has scored 4 of the 9 goals Ateleti have converted in the current edition of the Champions League (44%).
