Manchester City defender Ruben Dias is set to miss crucial matches as he continues to be on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
Dias has been on the sidelines for a month and is not expected to return as he continues with his recovery. Speaking ahead of the weekend’s clash against Burnley, Pep Guardiola has revealed the defender will be out for another two more weeks.
The defender will miss crucial matches against Atletico Madrid next week in the Champions League as well as the Premier League encounter with Liverpool next weekend.
“I don’t know, the doctor said four to six weeks,” Guardiola responded when asked how long Dias could take to return.
“I think it’s four now, (from) March 1, now it’s April 1. I think we need 10 days or two weeks more but everything is going well.”
City could be knocked off the top of the table for the first time since December before they play on Saturday as second-placed Liverpool host Watford a few hours earlier.
That would apply further pressure to City, who have dropped seven points in their last seven matches, but Guardiola insists his side will not change their approach.
“Why? At the end of the weekend, we will know the position we are in.”
“Even going points in front or points behind, we have to do our job. Nothing changes.”
City sit a point above Liverpool with nine games remaining.
