Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has resigned following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after being eliminated by Ghana on aggregate, following a 0-0 draw in the first leg with the reverse fixture ending with a 1-1 scoreline.
Eguavoen will now return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams.
“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.
Eguavoen had been handed a two-year contract before the first leg against Ghana but the NFF has now withdrawn the offer.
