Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has called on the Catalans to renew Ousmane Dembele’s contract.
Dembele has entered the final four months of his deal at the Nou Camp with Barcelona said to be pushing to tie him down to a longer stay.
In January, the 24-year-old found himself frozen out as the Catalan club told him he had to leave the club if he refused to agree to a new deal.
But Alaba says Barcelona must seek to renew Dembele’s contract after his recent good form.
“Renewing Dembele? I think they should,” Alba told El Larguero radio show.
“He is one of the best in the world in his position and by some margin. He is motivated and I don’t know what he will do, but here’s hoping he stays.”
Dembele has been linked with a move away from Nou Camp with the Premier League side monitoring his situation.
