Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has played down his confrontation with Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior during last week’s El Clasico.
There were reports that the Spaniard mocked his Brazilian counterpart during the game where he said: “You next year for the Ballon d’Or, yes, the Ballon d’Or during the 4-0 win over their arch-rivals.
When asked about the incident while in camp with the Spain national team, Garcia played down the incident saying it didn’t have any importance.
“It was a lance of the game, and that’s it, a little cross of words. It doesn’t have any importance. They are things of the game, they can happen quickly, a matter of seconds. It’s an action like thousands that can happen, without importance,” Garcia said.

The former Man City man will be hoping that he doesn’t eat his words in the future as Vinicius is considered as one of the players who are capable of breaking the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo dominance in the Ballon d’Or awards.
Apart from that, Vinicius’ Madrid is the clear favorite to win this year’s Laliga title and are in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
