Roman Abramovich is not looking to leave football entirely with reports indicating he is looking to buy Goztepe football club even as he looks to sell Chelsea.
The Russian billionaire was recently sanctioned by the UK government following Russia’s attack on neighbours Ukraine owing to his close ties to President Vladimir Putin.
He has been forced to sell the London club, one he has owned since 2003, with the sale process currently on.
Reports in Russia indicate the billionaire is looking to buy Goztepe football club, which plays in the Turkish Super Lig.
Goztepe currently sit 18th in the league and two points behind Altay.
The Russian Oligarch is said to have close ties with Turkey, who have not issued any sanctions on Russia and its citizens.
In fact, Abramovich’s two superyachts were seen docking on the Turkish coast, with protests from various quarters.
The country has remained neutral throughout the Russia-Ukraine conflict in a move to mediate between the two neighbouring nations.
