Arsenal will be worried about midfielder Smith Rowe after he sat out of training on Tuesday while on international duty with England.

Information from the England camp indicates that the midfielder together with West Ham United’s midfielder Declan Rice didn’t train on Tuesday as a precaution.

Other changes saw West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone called up in place of the injured Aaron Ramsdale who was also absent from the team.

Another absentee is Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling who was given permission to leave the squad to attend an event in Jamaica at the invitation of the Duke of Cambridge.

The other 21 players in Gareth Southgate’s squad all trained ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Switzerland, with a second match against Ivory Coast to follow next Tuesday.

They included Crystal Palace pair Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell, who both earned their first call-ups to the senior squad, along with another first-timer in Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Gareth Southgate side are set to play Switzerland and the Ivory Coast in friendlies this week.
