Raphinha has been forced to drop from Brazil’s World Cup qualifying squad due to COVID-19.

The 25-year-old was first included in Tite’s 25-man roster on March 11 in preparation for their forthcoming matches against Chile and Bolivia.

But the winger tested positive for the virus last Thursday, forcing him to miss Leeds’ 3-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers the following day, and he will also miss the rest of the month’s international duty.

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has also withdrawn due to his and his girlfriend’s pregnancy.

Brazil‘s official website has posted a statement announcing the withdrawal of both players, although it is unclear whether they intend to call up replacements.

Raphinha has excelled for Tite’s side since making his Brazil national team debut in October, scoring three goals and contributing two assists in seven games.

Raphinha is scheduled to return to first-team action for Leeds on April 2 when they host Southampton in the Premier League at Elland Road.
