Atletico Madrid are likely to be missing eight first-team players for Tuesday’s second leg of the Champions League against Manchester United.
Yannick Carrasco will be ineligible for selection once again owing to a European suspension, while seven other players are out with injury concerns before the Old Trafford clash.
Sime Vrsaljko, Mario Hermoso, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Matheus Cunha, and Daniel Wass are all expected to miss the Manchester encounter due to injuries.
Meanwhile, central defender Jose Gimenez suffered a calf strain during Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 La Liga victory against Cadiz on Friday, which will keep him out for the next three weeks.
Atletico, however, have been bolstered by the return of Koke from injury, while Angel Correa has also recovered from a fitness setback ahead of the second leg.
The last-16 encounter is balanced on a knife-edge following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Wanda Metropolitano, with Anthony Elanga coming off the substitute to equalize for Manchester United after Joao Felix had opened the scoring.
Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez are also eligible for Tuesday’s match at Old Trafford.
