Barcelona coach Xavi insists that his team can still win this season’s Laliga title but only if Real Madrid drops points.

Madrid who have played the same number of games as Barca are currently leading the standings with 63 points, 12 points above Barca who are placed third in the league.

The Carlo Ancelotti men have only lost two games the entire season and Xavi feels they only stand a chance to topple them if they are to drop more points.

“La Liga is very difficult to win or even to win at the Bernabeu. They (Real Madrid) have only lost two games this season and we would need them to lose three or four more. We cannot be too optimistic about our chances,” Xavi said after their Sunday win over Osasuna.

Barca have important games coming up and will be looking not to drop points too starting with a Europa League clash against Galatasaray this coming Thursday.

The Catalans will then face off with their arch-rivals in the El Clasico in the coming weekend in what is a must-win for them if they harbour any ambitions of lifting this season’s title. A clash against second-placed Sevilla then follows after El Clasico with Levante, Cadiz, and Real Sociedad coming next.
