Record-breakers Neymar and Lionel Messi suffered the wrath of Paris Saint-Germain’s enraged fans following another Champions League humiliation last week, as they were booed every time they touched the ball during a 3-0 home victory against Bordeaux.
Even after Neymar scored the second goal against the relegation-threatened side, he was jeered by the crowd. Messi was also booed even after he launched a characteristic run from deep and struck the post.
“I feel sad about what I saw today,” PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino said.
“All of us were upset.”
“We have to accept responsibility for what happened. We share the disappointment of the fans.”
The only person who was not jeered at was Kylian Mbappe, who scored in both legs of the Real Madrid tie and even opened the scoring yesterday.
Neymar and Messi were also on the receiving end of some hostile chants encouraging them to leave, and in protest for PSG’s midweek breakdown, several supporters in the Auteuil area of Parc des Princes arrived 15 minutes late.
This is something that rarely happens to Leo Messi and with the PSG ultras seemingly mad at the side’s performance on the big stage we can only hope it was a one-game incident.
Lionel Messi’s getting booed by some Paris Saint-Germain fans during today’s game vs Bordeaux, still disappointed after UCL fiasco. Same for Neymar. ⚠️ #Messi
Kind of unreal situation for Leo, never experienced before. pic.twitter.com/US5ZvUtvtH
