Chelsea’s bank account has been temporarily suspended by Barclays after the UK government’s sanction against Roman Abramovich.
The suspension has been deemed necessary in order to provide the bank time to evaluate the license Chelsea has been granted to conduct football-related operations.
The Blues are hoping that the suspension will be removed in the near future.
The UK government granted Chelsea permission to continue football-related operations on Thursday, after Abramovich was sanctioned with “frozen assets, a prohibition on interactions with UK persons and firms, a travel ban, and transportation sanctions.”
The sanctions have also seen sponsors reassess their involvement with the club, with shirt sponsor Three requesting their logo be removed from the front of the team’s shirts.
