Leicester will be without the returning Wesley Fofana for Sunday’s Premier League match against Arsenal.

The defender has just recovered from a broken leg and was set to make his first start of the season against Rennes on Thursday night, only for him to return a positive Covid test.

He will most likely sit out the clash against the Gunners but could feature next week when the Foxes play the French club in the return match.

“Wesley Fofana is very much a doubt (for Arsenal), but we’ll hopefully have him back next week,” Rodgers revealed at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“He’s a very talented boy, he’s come in, a young man who’s not played so much… We paid a lot of money for him, relative, but we knew his talent but he has come in and has been outstanding. However, he still has a lot of improvements to make.

“He’s been really unfortunate with the injury that he has had. He’s worked ever so hard to get back, and hopefully, he’ll return very soon.

“He’s fine, you see lots of cases like it where people without even feeling they had symptoms have tested positive. He is getting physical work in, and we’ll take it from there.

“(Rennes) will be the first game hopefully he’ll be available for, but we just have to assess that between now and then.”

Fofana, who signed for Leicester in a £36.5m deal last summer, made a promising start to life at the club, making 38 appearances in all competitions.
