Barcelona squandered several key chances as they were held to a 0-0 UEFA Europa League (UEL) draw by Galatasaray on Thursday night.

Barcelona’s unbeaten run now stands at nine games, although the draw will be a worry for them as they head into the second leg of the tie in the next seven days.

In another match of the day, a brace from Luis Muriel saw Atalanta come from behind to defeat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 in Bergamo to take a slender advantage into the second leg.

After hitting the post with his free-kick, Charles Aránguiz gave Bayer Leverkusen the lead after just 11 minutes but the hosts were level shortly after when Ruslan Malinovskyi combined with strike partner Muriel, before firing the ball into the right corner from close range.

The Colombian fired into the right corner to make it 2-1 for Atalanta before doubling the hosts’ lead minutes into the second half. Moussa Diaby ensured it would be an intriguing second leg when his curling effort from the edge of the area nestled into the bottom left corner to halve the deficit for ‘Die Werkself’.

Rangers put one foot into the UEFA Europa League (UEL) quarter-finals with a pulsating 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade at Ibrox.

The hosts took the lead after 12 minutes from the penalty spot through James Tavernier. Alfredo Morelos doubled their lead before Tavernier’s precise delivery was met by Leon Balogun to ensure the hosts head into the second leg with a healthy lead.
