Russia and Ukraine

World football governing body FIFA has opened a special transfer window for the clubs in Russia and Ukraine.

The move from the organization comes following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and sees players being able to sign for other clubs for the remainder of the season after having their current deals suspended.

“The suspension of a contract…will mean that players and coaches will be considered “out of contract” until 30 June 2022 and will therefore be at liberty to sign a contract with another club without facing consequences of any kind,” a statement from FIFA noted on Tuesday.

The move allows clubs to sign players from those leagues with Brighton and Hove Albion believed to be one of the clubs in Liverpool who are monitoring a player from the said countries.

Graham Potter’s side currently sits in 13th place in the Premier League table on 33 points and would want to boost their squad so as to have a strong finish to the season.
