Al-Rayyan forward James Rodriguez has revealed how he came close to joining LaLiga side Atletico Madrid.
Speaking to the media, Rodriguez revealed how his parent club Real Madrid made his move to Atleti collapse at the eleventh hour.
“Yes, it was almost done. I wanted my family next to me, the deal was set to be completed,” he said.
“Everything collapsed because Real Madrid didn’t allow me to leave”, he added.
The Colombian has also opened up on a possible return to Premier League side Everton.
“It would be a possibility,” Rodriguez said.
“If they want to, I would be open to that. I didn’t have any problems with anyone there.”
The 30-year-old has been doing well for his new club, netting four goals while providing five assists in the Qatar Stars League.
