Serie B side Parma have announced that Gigi Buffon has extended his contract with the Ducali and will continue to play until he turns 46.

After his contract with Juventus expired in the summer, the veteran shot-stopper returned to his former team, where he originally signed a two-year agreement, but the club has now extended it for an additional season.

Parma President Kyle Krause stated today during a news conference that the 2006 Italy World Cup champion has extended his contract with the Serie B club through June 2024.

Buffon has the most Serie A appearances (657) and has won 10 Scudetti with Juventus and this season, the 44-year-old has appeared in 23 Serie B games, allowing as many goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

Buffon made his debut for Parma in 1995.

Although the Ducali have struggled this season, they remain in contention for the Serie B play-offs, as they look to get back to the top-flight.
