Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stated that he would not retire from football until he has “won something with this Milan team.”
“My future is football, my world is football,” the 40-year-old told reporters.
“I am disappointed that I am not able to play at the moment, this really pains me, especially when the team is doing well.
“I want to be there and help the team. We’ve done great things since I arrived, and now we are only missing one element: a trophy.
“We are fighting to achieve this, I won’t quit until I have won something with this Milan side.”
The former Man United striker won the Scudetto with Milan in 2011 and the Supercoppa Italiana the following season, but Stefano Pioli’s team has failed to win a title since his return in 2019.
The Rossoneri are currently second in Serie A, having been overtaken by Napoli – who needed a late winner to upset Lazio last night – following a poor 1-1 draw at home to Udinese.
