Kenya has been suspended from all football international activities over government interference by the world football governing body, FIFA.
The FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed Kenya’s suspension during Fifa Council Press Conference on Thursday evening.
“Without prejudice to any investigations by national authorities or other judicial bodies, the Fifa Council also decided to suspend the Football Kenya Federation and the Zimbabwe Football Association with immediate effect due to undue interference by a third party,” he told reporters.
The country is now barred from fielding any team in any competitive event outside the country. (Both men and women’s football teams/clubs)
Referees will not be allowed to officiate international matches while locally-based Kenyan footballers will not be allowed to complete a professional transfer during the suspension period.
