RIP Litte Champ! Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach is mourning the death of Jordi Bongard.
Bongard was involved in a tragic car accident on Thursday morning and Gladbach has paid tribute to the 20-year-old. The center-back signed for Gladbach at the age of 12 and progressed right up to the U23s and has represented Germany at youth levels.
“Borussia mourns the death of U23s player Jordi Bongard, who unfortunately died in a car accident last night,” a statement from the club read.
“We would like to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
The club’s sporting director Roland Virkus said, “We received this terrible news this morning and we are stunned. Our deepest sympathy and our thoughts are with Jordi’s family.”
