His name is Anthony Elanga and he is Manchester United’s most beloved boy right now. As Futaa reported on Wednesday night, the Swedish forward came to the rescue!
Elanga became a super-sub with a late equaliser that claimed a 1-1 draw away at Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 19-year-old forward smashed home an 80th-minute strike after he was introduced as a substitute for Marcus Rashford on 75 minutes.
Chatting to the media after the result, his coach Ralf Rangnick revealed that Elanga almost left the club on loan in January when the German coach arrived.
“He was almost on his way out on loan in Jan, I told him: no way, you will stay,” Rangnick said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“From the first training session, he showed up. I was in my hotel room watching videos of him on YouTube!” the coach concluded.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils will host the Spanish giants in the return leg at Old Trafford on 15 March.
