Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez has revealed why he left Everton in the summer.

Rodrigues joined the Toffees in 2020 on a free transfer after leaving Real Madrid but left the club last summer after falling out with Rafa Benitez and admitted that were it not for the Spaniard, he could have stayed longer at the club.

“I would have liked to have been at Everton for much longer. It’s a spectacular club, the fans are incredible, but I ran into a coach who didn’t want to count on me. I wanted to be there. Unfortunately, the coach didn’t want to count on me,” Rodriguez said as quoted by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The player who is currently in the books of Al-Rayyan SC in Qatar made just 26 appearances in his one year with Everton.
