Anthony Elanga

Manchester United’s 4-2 triumph against Leeds was marred by crowd disturbance at Elland Road, when Anthony Elanga was struck by an object thrown from the stands.

Immediately following the visitors’ third goal, which was scored by Fred in the second half, the incident occurred. During the celebration after the goal made it 3-2 for United, Whites fans threw missiles towards Elanga and the goal scorer.

The attacker was able to continue after receiving treatment, and he had the last laugh, scoring late on to ensure the 4-2 triumph.

In their post-match interviews, the two managers commented on the incident saying:

Bielsa:

“Any excess other than sporting should not be approved,” the Leeds United boss. “I can’t evaluate what you spoke about because I didn’t see it.”

Rangnick:

Man United’s interim boss added: “I don’t think that anything happened in the end. Anthony Elanga looked well and he was happy about scoring his goal.

“Obviously things like that should not happen and I think even more so this game. The atmosphere was great.”
