Sadio Mane

What level of legend is it when massive public amenities get named but you’re only 29 years of age? Only Sadio Mane probably knows.

It has been confirmed that a new stadium in the Sedhiou region of Senegal will be named after the Liverpool and Lions of Teranga superstar Sadio Mane.

The news was confirmed by the region’s mayor Abdoulaye Diop soon after the former RB Leipzig and Southampton player inspired Senegal to their first-ever AFCON title this month in Cameroon.

“Sadio Mane has honoured all of Senegal, the Sedhiou region and the entire Casamance area,” Abdoulaye Diop said.

“I have decided to name the Sedhiou stadium after him. In doing so I wish to convey the gratitude of all the sons and daughters of the region towards him.

“He has made all of mankind aware of Bambali and Sedhiou, the region’s main town.

“This is a gift that Sadio Mane truly deserves,” Diop concluded.

Meanwhile, Mane is now training with Liverpool in preparation for Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, commonly known as San Siro.
