For the second time in a week, Manchester United will play Aston Villa this Saturday.
The two sides met on Monday night in the FA Cup third-round tie, with Scott McTominay’s goal the difference between the two sides.
United head to the Midlands on Saturday to face the Villans, this time, in the English Premier League.
Ahead of the match, here is an update on both teams
The Red Devils will be eager to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves last time out, which was also Ralf Rangnick’s first loss in charge of the team.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed the match with a muscle problem, but he is back in training and will most likely return to the starting lineup.
The Portuguese is one of the players to have featured in all Premier League matches for United this season.
United will however be without Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay, who are both suspended for the match after accumulating five yellow cards each.
In Shaw’s absence, Alex Telles looks certain to start, with McTominay’s spot likely to be filled by the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic.
Harry Maguire, Phils Jones, and Victor Lindelof are all expected to feature as well after shaking off minor injuries, and for the Swedish defender, recovering after testing positive for Covid-19.
Steven Gerrard will miss the services of influential midfielder John McGinn, who like Shaw and McTominay, is suspended after also picking up a fifth yellow card.
Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet are away at the Africa Cup of Nations, further limiting Gerrard’s options across the pitch.
He will however have the chance to start new signings Lucas Digne and Phillipe Coutinho, who arrived at the club from Everton and Barcelona respectively.
