Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is confident that Mohamed Salah will star for a long time despite the player entering his 30’s.
The Egyptian has been one of the most in-form players in the past four seasons and with his contract at Anfield set to come to an end soon, Klopp believes that the player will continue to shine whether at Liverpool or wherever he will be as they work to tie him on a longer deal.
“Yes. Yes, I think so,” Klopp answered when asked if he thought Salah will shine in his 30’s. “It’s his character, his determination, the way he trains, his attitude, work-rate. It’s incredible,” Klopp said.
On the player’s future he added: “First of all, nowadays I think it’s really dangerous to talk about interviews when you didn’t speak to the player yourself.
“There was nothing in it that would be unexpected. We know, I know, that Mo wants to stay. We want him to stay. That’s the point where we are. These things take time, I can’t change that, sorry. But I think it is all in a good place.
“I’m very positive about it. I’m pretty sure the fans are not as nervous as you (the media) are. They know the club, know the people here who are dealing with things, so there are, I think, enough reasons for being pretty positive. As long as it’s not done, we cannot say anything about it. ‘Good conversations’, that’s what I could say.”
It is understood the Egyptian is hoping to be paid in the region of €480,00-a-week, similar to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
