Chelsea booked a place in the Carabao Cup final after beating Tottenham 1-0 (3-0 on aggregate) on Wednesday night.

The Blues led 2-0 from the opening leg played last week at Stamford Bridge, and were in cruise control at the Tottenham Stadium on the night.

Antonio Rudiger scored the only goal of the match, heading home a Mason Mount corner in the 18th minute.

Spurs will however feel highly undone after VAR ruled out two penalties awarded by referee Andre Mariner in each half, as well as a Harry Kane goal in the second half.

Thomas Tuchel’s side started the match brightly but had to wait until the 12th minute for any meaningful attempt on goal.

It fell to Romelu Lukaku, who found himself on a one-on-one with Pierluigi Gollini inside the six-yard box after skillfully chesting down Rudiger’s ball, but his attempted ball low into the middle of the target was kept out by the goalie.

Rudiger then gave the Blues the lead minutes later when he ran unmarked to meet Mount’s ball and head past the rushing Gollini.

The second half saw Spurs improve a little bit as they went in search of an early goal.

It almost arrived in the 56th minute when Kepa Arrizabalaga was adjudged to have brought down Lucas Moura inside the box, with the referee awarding a penalty.

It was however overturned after a VAR intervention.
