Supercoppa Italiana

Alexis Sanchez struck at the extra time as Inter Milan beat Juventus 2-1 to lift the Supercoppa Italiana title on Wednesday night.

Juve had taken a 25th-minute lead through Weston McKennie who headed home from Álvaro Morata’s cross but Inter restored parity ten minutes later through Lautaro Martinez from the penalty spot after Edin Dzeko had been brought down in the box by Mattia De Sciglio.

With the game tied at 1-1 at the break, both teams failed to score in the second half a move that forced the game to go to extra time.

With the games headed to penalties, Sanchéz popped up to score a dramatic late goal in the 120th minute to win the Nerazzurri the Supercoppa title for the first time since 2010.
