Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has stated that Mason Greenwood’s development is not his main priority.

The German came under scrutiny last weekend when he withdrew the young Englishman in their loss to Wolves when the player was one of the brightest prospects in the game.

Speaking about Greenwood after the game, Rangnick said: “His effort and performance were not outstanding but he was one of the better players today.”

The comments seem to have angered a section of United fans who feel that the German is out of touch with the happenings at Old Trafford with reports rife that a section of players are not convinced by his tactics.

According to the Guardian, Rangnick sees Greenwood as expendable and wants him to develop physically if he is to become an important player for him going forward.

So far, Cristiano Ronaldo has been the main man for United despite many tipping Greenwood to be a shining light under the German after some brilliant outing under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
