Laliga giants FC Barcelona has confirmed that defender Eric Garcia will be out of action for five weeks.

A statement from the club noted: “Tests carried out on first-team player Eric Garcia this morning confirmed a right hamstring injury. He is likely to be sidelined for around five weeks.”

The player who joined the club in the summer from Manchester City was withdrawn in their weekend 1-1 daw against Granada after reporting discomfort on his hamstring and was replaced by Clement Lenglet for the rest of the match.

The 20-year old’s injury presents a new headache for manager Xavi who has been hit by an injury bug since his arrival at the club late last year. The Spaniard is missing the services of important first-team players in Ronald Araujo, Sergi Roberto, Frenkie de Jong, and Pedri.

There however seems to be some positive news with the club confirming that the attacking duo of Memphis Depay and Ansu Fati were nearing full fitness .

Barca will be traveling to Saudi Arabia next week to face Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup.
