There could be a new Brazilian in London. Lyon star Bruno Guimaraes has revealed Arsenal made contact regarding his signature.
Mikel Arteta’s side seem to urgently need a new central midfielder as early as this month. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are off to the African Cup of Nations to represent Ghana and Egypt respectively.
While the Gunners are looking at several targets, Guimaraes slightly stands out as a player that has been discussed at Arsenal for over a year now.
The 24-year-old was tipped to come to the Emirates stadium but ended up going to Lyon.
“Arsenal approached my agent, but there was no offer. My aim, and I made it clear to Juninho, is to win a title with Lyon,” he said to Globo via GFFN.
“The fans have not had one for a long time. We have the Coupe de France, the Europa League and the league.
“It is difficult with the level that PSG are at, but anything can happen,” he added.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s focus is now all on this week’s Carabao Cup semi final action against Liverpool.
