Former Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum is heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. Yes, you read correctly.
Anything is always possible in football. The most shocking transfer reports often turn out to be true as players move to where we thought it was unthinkable.
According to FourFourTwo, Arsenal want to sign Wijnaldum from Paris Saint-Germain, and as early this month! Why so? Mikel Arteta’s central midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are off to the African Cup of Nations to represent Ghana and Egypt respectively.
The Dutchman has only managed nine Paris as he struggles to compete for playing time against the likes of Marco Veratti, Danilo Pereira, Leandro Parades, Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye.
“Arsenal are set to make the shock addition of Gini Wijnaldum to their AFCON-decimated midfield this month,” the report said.
“That’s according to reports that claim the former Liverpool star is unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain and will look for a loan move away from the French capital, with the Gunners poised to pounce.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal are now looking ahead to Thursday’s Carabao semi-final battle against Liverpool.
