Caoimhin Kelleher

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed keeper Caoimhin Kelleher after his penalty heroics on Wednesday night.

The young stopper saved two penalties as Liverpool overcame Leicester City in post-match penalties to book a semi-final date against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

“Caoimh is an outstanding goalkeeper. With his feet, his understanding, all the goalie skills, John and Jack did an outstanding job with him. Not the first time he’s been in a spectacular game. He saved our lives,” Klopp said after the game.

The Foxes had raced to a 3-1 lead at regular time with Jamie Vardy scoring a brace in the process but the hosts rallied to reduce the arrears from Diogo Jota before Takumi Minamino took the game into penalties with a stoppage-time goal.

In the Kicks, Kelleher saved from Thomas and Bertrand to seal the qualification for Liverpool.
